Aquatics Trainer
The Health & Safety Trainer will lead community members and staff in safety trainings and courses. This position is responsible for administrative duties and communication relating to designated safety trainings.

Schedule:
Tuesdays + Thursdays 4pm
Responsibilities- Train course participants on aquatic procedures and policies
- Train course participants on member focused certification courses
- Follow trainer guidelines and deliver class components as established by the YMCA of San Diego County and YUSA as established
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with staff and members through proactive outreach
- Maintain and organize participant rosters and paperwork
- File and submit certification paperwork for training participants
- Follow Aquatic Trainer Guidelines to ensure completion of administrative work and trainings
- Ensure availability and prepare training room and pool space prior to class start, establish training coverage when needed
- Prepare equipment, paperwork and program guides prior to class start
- Communicate with training participants on status and progress of their performance
- Ensure online registrations and payment confirmation of program participants
- Set up auditory and visual technology to set up presentations and group work
- Under direction of the program director, accountable for leading and creating in-service trainings
- Escalate concerns or issues to director as appropriate
- Tracks blended learning options to ensure all prerequisites for certification trainings are met prior to attending in-person sessions
- Promote the YMCA in a positive manner and keep member service as the primary objective at all times
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation

- Must meet minimum age required for certifications below
- 2 years of experience in an aquatics environment teaching swim lessons or lifeguarding
- Experience co-facilitating Aquatic Trainings
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Current Basic Lifeguarding Certification and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
- American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.
- Current O2 certification and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute - Current CPR and First Aid Certification and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute - One of the following Certifications is required, additional Certification(s) dependent trainings performed:
- Current YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (must crossover to YMCA within 6 months)
- Current YMCA Swim Lesson (YSL) Certification or American Red Cross WSI Certification (must obtain YSL within 6 months)
