The Deputy of Food Services reports to the Director of Food Recovery & Distribution. The Deputy of Food Services assists in day-to-day activities and progress of the Brother Benno Foundation’s (The Foundation) Food Recovery & Distribution department. This includes reporting of food rescued, reporting of the EFAP program to the federal government, and monitoring of the food facilities for cleanliness and upkeep.
The Deputy will also assist staff and volunteers in the execution of their duties. This position is an hourly position and will sometimes require execution of their duties outside normal work hours.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of the Food Recovery & Distribution department including but not limited to food distribution, food rescue execution and reporting, distribution success strategy, and other associated program duties.
- Ensures that the Food Recovery & Distribution program is in line with SB 1383 regulation – a humanitarian and corporate responsible sustainability program mandated by the state government.
- Reports any unsafe or potentially unsafe food storage conditions to the Director of Food Recovery & Distribution for correction.
- Explains food storage and safety procedure to new staff and volunteers, ensures compliance to government and partner agency regulations and explains the penalties for non- or unsatisfactory compliance.
- Assists in maintaining partnerships with redistribution partners who receive and distribute food rescued by the Foundation.
- Leads and ensures efficiency and dignity of food distribution to the Foundation’s ‘guests.’ Guests include sensitive communities such as the unsheltered and low-income guests.
- Leads volunteers, program members.
- Monitors good discipline and morale in the program.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ work experience in related field
- Ability to effectively and efficiently supervise staff
- Computer skills in MS Office including Excel, Word
