Custodian – Oceanside Unified School District

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, maintain clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly assigned buildings and facilities for students, staff, and the public by performing a variety of cleaning and custodial duties; secure rooms and buildings; and perform special cleaning and building maintenance periodically.

• High school graduation and, preferably, prior experience in cleaning and operating similar equipment.
• Knowledge of proper methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning methods, practices, procedures, and equipment.
• Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Understanding of district and site policies, procedures, and objectives of the assigned program and activities.
• Record‑keeping techniques.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proper lifting techniques.
• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
• Ability to work without immediate supervision.
• Efficient and effective use of cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Ability to operate custodial equipment and tools.
• Maintain work pace and accuracy to meet schedules and timelines.
• Ability to learn and perform record‑keeping techniques.
• Follow oral and written instructions accurately.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
• Read, interpret, and follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Communicate with diverse groups and individuals.
