Salary/Benefits:

Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas on district campuses and properties by foot, bicycle and emergency vehicle to enforce laws, district rules, and to protect life and property; inspect facility security and prevent unauthorized entry.
  • Respond to routine and emergency calls; provide first aid or CPR as needed and activate the Incident Command System (ICS) as required.
  • Enforce applicable laws and ordinances, issue warnings and citations; pursue, detain and arrest suspects; document incidents in patrol logs.
  • Investigate traffic incidents, provide traffic and crowd control, conduct preliminary investigations, interview witnesses, collect evidence, and coordinate with local law enforcement agencies; prepare reports and testify in court as required.
  • Coordinate with other law enforcement agencies; liaison with probation officers and others involved with juvenile offenders; respond to mutual aid requests during disasters or emergencies; participate in cooperative enforcement activities (e.g., DUI checkpoints, safety initiatives).
  • Perform directed patrols to support motorist/pedestrian safety; enforce parking/the California Vehicle Code; maintain clearly marked parking lots and roadways.
  • Maintain and qualify with department firearms and equipment; participate in monthly firearms training.
  • Attend ongoing training on law, procedures, defensive tactics, and report writing to keep knowledge current.
  • In disaster events, supervise distribution of emergency equipment and implement emergency procedures.
  • Other Duties
  • Control and direct traffic during emergencies, events, and incidents; manage crowd control.
  • Register college-affiliated sex offenders as required by law and disseminate information to district authorities; handle domestic violence/harassment orders as needed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • As Assigned – Detective: conduct criminal investigations, interview involved parties, perform crime scene investigations, and prepare cases for DA filing.
  • As Assigned – Background Investigator: may serve as a background investigator for candidates; prepare investigative reports in accordance with POST guidelines; coordinate selection activities including interviews and examinations.
  • As Assigned – Field Training Officer: provide day-to-day lead work direction to police personnel; monitor work to ensure compliance and provide training.
  • As Assigned – Firearms Instructor/Rangemaster: manage qualification records, ammunition, and range facilities; conduct training as needed.
