Aircraft Electromechanical Systems Instructor (part-time, contract position) at Mira Costa College
POSITION DETAILS:
The Community Education and Workforce Development Department at Mira Costa College is looking for an expert in the field of aerospace electromechanical systems to teach a small cohort of students in the areas listed below. This position requires a total of 60 instructional hours for a limited contractual time period, with work hours during the day on weekdays, and beginning as soon as possible.
Responsibilities and Duties- Assist in the preparation of program curriculum design.
- Ensure students are equipped to understand the very basics of electromechanical systems in basic aircraft design.
- Establish an inclusive environment in the classroom.
- Strive for excellence in teaching, applying best practices in field of discipline, and modeling behaviors that encourage student success and retention.
- Demonstrate a sense of connection and responsibility for helping the College to achieve success through a commitment to its mission, vision, and values.
- Communicate effectively, share vision, focus on people, initiate positive change, value differences, and foster collaboration.
- Work with and inspire others to achieve college, department, and individual success. Proactively identify/address problems.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in aerospace engineering capacity, with an expert knowledge of electromechanical systems.
- Associate’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Two (2) years of teaching experience.
- Operation experience as an Aerospace Electromechanical Systems expert and experience leading field instruction operations.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Experience in developing curriculum to be taught on this subject matter.
Salary is negotiable from $50 - $90 per hour. Short-term, temporary employees may be eligible for Healthy Families Sick Leave, and enrollment in a retirement system.
Work LocationMira Costa College Technology Career Institute in Carlsbad, California. This Mira Costa College site is a state-of-the-art work skills training facility housing many accelerated training programs in Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare, and Emerging Technologies.
