Overview
Mira Costa College invites applications for one equity-minded, full-time (10 months per year), tenure-track,
English Instructor position beginning in August 2026.
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Teach primarily English composition classes, and secondarily literature courses. (E)
- Collaborate with colleagues or community leaders in programs or initiatives that serve historically underrepresented students. (E)
- Work in collaboration with other full-time and associate faculty in coordinating and maintaining currency of curriculum responding to the needs of historically underrepresented students. (E)
- Continue to pursue currency in composition theory, pedagogy, and cultural competency. (E)
- Assist in the creation, review, development and evaluation of courses both online and on-ground, certificates, and programs in collaboration with other instructors as appropriate. (E)
- Participate actively in departmental subcommittees and projects. (E)
- Participate in the development, assessment and evaluation of student learning outcomes (SLOs). (E)
- Participate in the tenure review process as described in the “Criteria for Evaluation” at https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
- Participate in college-wide committee work and collegial governance. (E)
Mira Costa College Board Policy 7800:
Employee Residency requires all full-time faculty to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two hundred (200) road miles from the employee’s regularly assigned district worksite. The purpose of the policy is to promote efficiency and continuity throughout all campus administrative functions, provide students with high-quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure that students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs.
The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.
CompensationInitial salary placement is based on education and experience and ranges from $88,852 (class I, step
