Position: Noncredit Older Adult Education Associate (Part-time) Instructor Pool 2021 - 2022

About The Position

The Assessor‑County Clerk‑Recorder's Office in Riverside and Hemet has current vacancies in the Public Service Section. ACR technicians assist the public in filing marriage licenses, fictitious business names, passport applications, notary licenses and a variety of other legal documents. An ACR tech also examines documents for filing legal recordings and may assist the public (in person or by telephone) with inquiries about tax assessments.

Each area (Assessor, County Clerk, Recorder) requires a separate training period, with proficiency in all areas acquired over time.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of: modern office practices and procedures—including filing, operating standard office equipment, basic arithmetic, and proper telephone and reception techniques.
  • Ability to: review, understand, apply and explain laws, regulations, and policies governing legal documents; read and interpret maps, titles, property descriptions, assessment records and related documents; perform basic arithmetical calculations; deal tactfully and courteously with the public; provide information and respond to questions; establish and maintain effective working relationships; and attain departmental production standards by the end of probationary period.
  • Experience: one year of typing and clerical experience that includes one of the following: explaining information or procedures to the public; processing property assessment records; appraising real or personal property; accounting or auditing; engineering; building cost estimating; or selling, leasing or managing real estate.
  • Either of the following may substitute for the required experience:
    • Completion of 18 semester (or 27 quarter) units from a recognized college in secretarial sciences, office practices, business education, or a closely related field.
    • Completion of 360 hours of training from a recognized occupational training program in secretarial sciences, business education, or a closely related field.
