Position Overview
The Receptionist receives and assists patients and visitors, answers telephone calls, and organizes appointments. He/She helps to facilitate patient care by carrying out the Receptionist responsibilities in a professional, efficient, and accurate manner.

  • Support patient care by performing receptionist duties in a professional, efficient, and accurate manner
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • License: N/A
  • Certifications: Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
  • Experience: Experience working in a clerical or secretarial role in a healthcare-related setting preferred.
Reporting and Supervisory
  • Reports To: Practice Administrator
  • Supervises: None
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Work is moderately active: sitting with travel to other facilities within the SRHS service area; ability to move and lift items as needed.
  • Exposure to body fluids, sputum and tissues; risk of infectious disease; repetitive movements with wrists, hands, and fingers; use of computer keyboard and office equipment.
  • Close visual acuity and ability to focus on printed material and computer screens; ability to perceive sound at normal levels; ability to work extended periods without undue fatigue.
  • Willingness to adapt to schedule changes for hospital needs, including off days, shifts, or weekends.
Mental Demands
  • Keen mental faculties, assessment and decision-making abilities
  • Superior communication, speaking/enunciation skills; strong written and verbal communication
  • Emotional stability to handle high-stress situations; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in complex situations; maintain collaborative relationships
Special Demands
  • Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette
  • Proficient computer skills (keyboard proficiency) and familiarity with MS Outlook and Word; ability to use telephone, fax, etc.
  • Apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages
