Overview

Receptionist — Gulf Coast Neurology Center | Full-Time | M-F Days

The Receptionist receives and assists patients and visitors, answers telephone calls, and organizes appointments. He/She helps to facilitate patient care by carrying out the Receptionist responsibilities in a professional, efficient, and accurate manner.

Responsibilities
  • Provide reception duties for patients and visitors, answer and direct incoming calls, and coordinate appointments to support patient care in a professional, efficient, and accurate manner.
Education
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
License
  • N/A
Certifications
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
Experience
  • Experience working in a clerical or secretarial role in a healthcare-related setting preferred.

  • Practice Administrator

  • None
Physical Demands
  • Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office and facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. May involve lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects with negligible force.
  • Exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues; potential infectious disease hazards.
  • Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers while using standard office equipment (e.g., keyboard).
  • Auditory and visual requirements to perceive and interpret information; ability to shift gaze between a computer monitor and printed materials.
  • Ability to be active for extended periods and to work scheduled shifts, including potential changes for hospital needs, days off, or weekends.
Mental Demands
  • Demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment and decision-making abilities; strong communication skills (spoken and written).
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail; ability to multi-task in complex situations and maintain professional relationships across SRHS and partner organizations.
Special Demands
  • Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
  • Proficient computer literacy, keyboarding, and use of MS Outlook and Word; ability to operate other office equipment (telephone, fax, etc.).
  • Appropriate clinical judgment and skills applicable to patients of all ages.
