Sushi Cook | White Willow – World Equestrian Center
The World Equestrian Center seeks a skilled and passionate sushi cook to join our culinary team for an upscale Japanese dining concept. This role is pivotal in delivering a refined sushi experience characterized by precision, quality, and meticulous attention to detail.
Primary Responsibilities- Craft sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty items with precision, consistency, and meticulous attention to visual presentation.
- Prepare sushi ingredients—including fish, rice, vegetables, and garnishes—with accuracy and care, ensuring all components meet strict freshness and quality standards.
- Maintain station readiness by setting up, stocking, and breaking down the sushi station for daily service and special events.
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with labeling, rotation, and storage, and communicate replenishment needs to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas, tools, refrigeration units, and the sushi station, upholding all local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless and timely service.
- Support the Sushi Supervisor and sushi chefs in executing menu items to specification and assist with plating and presentation as needed.
- Engage with guests during chef counter service or special events to enhance the dining experience through hospitality and culinary storytelling.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and culinary excellence, assisting in training junior team members and promoting a respectful, disciplined, and collaborative kitchen environment.

Physical Requirements- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
- Capable of working in a hot, fast‑paced kitchen for 8+ hours per shift.
- Good vision and hearing for communication and quality control.
Skills And Abilities
- Prior kitchen/sushi bar experience required (level determined by skill and tenure).
- Strong understanding of culinary fundamentals, particularly in Japanese cuisine.
- Ability to follow recipes and kitchen protocols with precision.
- Professional demeanor, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn.
- Serv Safe Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
