Overview
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department at UF Health's Ocala Neighborhood Hospital, you will identify the patient’s health changes, assess responses to both current and potential health problems, implement and evaluate nursing interventions, and provide patient care in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.
Responsibilities- Supervise and direct care provided by Licensed Practical Nurses and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel.
- Assign and delegate nursing care to qualified members of the health‑care team.
- Coordinate care among professional disciplines as needed.
- Perform unit‑based activities that promote a positive work environment, including but not limited to:
- Manage patient care within established nursing standards and state regulations.
- Stabilize patients and assist with life‑support needs in collaboration with physicians and clinical staff.
- Collect laboratory samples and perform testing in accordance with CLIA regulations.
- Conduct laboratory quality controls and routine maintenance per laboratory policy.
- Prepare patient meals per physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Ensure supplies, equipment, and medications are available; maintain appropriate par levels.
- Participate in QAPI activities, accreditation preparation, and survey processes.
- Adhere to facility and departmental policies and procedures.
- Attend all applicable facility meetings, training, and development workshops.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Coordinate discharge planning and post‑acute placement of patients as required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a hospital progressive care or intensive care unit, or equivalent experience.
- BSN and professional nursing board certification preferred at time of hire.
- All nurses hired after April 30, 2014 without a BSN will be required to obtain a BSN within three years of hire.
- All nurses hired after June 30, 2011 without a professional nursing board certification will be required to obtain a certification within two years of hire or at the certification eligibility date.
- Current RN license in the State of Florida.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
