Designs engaging, interactive, state of the art educational activities/plans rooted in adult learning principles; implements and coordinates activities related to clinical practice and lifelong career development. Integrates regulatory standards to meet the requirements for continuing education contact hours, when appropriate. The programs/activities are based on identification of a professional practice gap/needs assessments, and current evidence-based practice/literature. Programs are designed to augment the knowledge, skills and attitudes of assigned staff including continuing education, in-service education, continued competence training, or new information based on unit/department needs, organization initiatives/goals and policy revisions.

Develops, incorporates, and implements evidence-based plans in collaboration with content experts, representatives of target audiences, and other stakeholders to support interprofessional/team coordination of care across the continuum. Assists with students and practicing nurses to identify their learning needs, strengths, and opportunities and develops learning activities to grow skill sets based on learning needs. Evaluates the effectiveness of educational activities. Professional Role Development: NPD Practitioner may assist others in their professional role development, practice role transitions, and succession planning.

Supports the preceptor program and provides support at the unit level to the preceptor.
