Overview
Medical Director (Addiction Medicine) at New Season. Responsible for all medical services performed by the treatment center. Provides medical oversight and leadership to the clinical staff under their supervision to ensure the quality of care is provided to our patients.
Responsibilities- Provides and/or ensures, via physician extenders, a physical examination of all patients upon admission and/or readmission, including annual physical examinations and health examinations, and reviews admissions-related laboratory results, in accordance with applicable rules and regulations for medically monitored treatment programs/facilities in the state where the clinic operates.
- Issues patient medication change orders; supervises nursing staff regarding medication dosage changes via verbal or written orders.
- Be available to staff for emergency management of patient care.
- Refer patients to primary care providers for medical conditions other than narcotic addiction.
- Provide training to all clinical staff under supervision, including chart and dosing reviews, face-to-face training with physicians and nurses, policy/procedure updates, and potential support to other locations.
- Participate in Quarterly Board Meetings to discuss state-specific strategic plans, performance improvement plans, quality assurance plans, budgets, staffing, and patient care; provide reports as requested.
- Assist Program Directors in physician recruitment and participate in interviewing prospective physician candidates.
- Ensure program compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to medical care.
- Attend weekly treatment team meetings to discuss patient care and outcomes and provide recommendations on alternative care options.
- Label medication bottles in the absence of the pharmacist and consult with the Corporate Medical Director on patient-care-related medical concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
May provide medical supervision to Clinical Nurses, Medical Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and/or Other Program Physicians as assigned.
Essential QualificationsEducation/Licensure/Certification: Active and clear medical licensure in the state(s) where patient care will be provided. DEA Certificate of Registration. Active Medicaid and Medicare credential.
Required Knowledge: Knowledge of mental health and/or substance abuse, Federal Confidentiality Law, HIPAA and ethics. Proficiency in standard computer applications (Microsoft Office and/or Google products).
Experience Required: One (1) year of experience in the field of Substance Abuse preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills; highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable. Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and integrity.

Job/State RequirementsPhysician License in the State of Florida, DEA with appropriate scheduling, credentialed through Medicaid/Medicare.
