Job Title
LICENSING SPECIALIST - CHILD CARE -
Responsibilities- Serve as the authorized agent of the Department for day‑to‑day regulatory activities of the Child Care Regulation Program.
- Act as a technical advisor and consultant to prospective and existing child‑care providers.
- Ensure compliance with licensing standards by conducting regular inspections and inspections prompted by complaints.
- Manage inquiries that cannot be resolved at the clerical level and maintain complete, accurate files for each licensed child‑care facility and family day‑care home in the caseload.
- Coordinate and collaborate with staff from other Department programs and external agencies with regulatory authority, such as environmental health, community health nurses, fire inspections, background screening, and complaint investigations.
- Inform supervisors in a timely manner of any issues that require escalation to their level of responsibility.
- Position requires travel and mandatory three (3) weeks of pre‑service training in another location in the state.
- Must be familiar with applicable state and federal laws, administrative rules, and policies affecting the Child Care Regulation Program.
