This role involves operating Acme-Gridley automatic screw machines to produce precision components. You will be responsible for:
- Setting up and operating Acme-Gridley machines according to job specifications
- Reading and interpreting blueprints to determine part dimensions and setup
- Loading raw materials and positioning stock
- Monitoring machining processes including turning, facing, knurling, thread chasing, drilling, grooving, and cutting
- Taking measurements and inspecting finished parts to ensure accuracy
- Identifying and correcting malfunctions or tool wear
- Performing basic machine maintenance and adjustments as needed
- Maintaining adherence to quality standards and safety procedures
- Proven experience operating Acme-Gridley machines
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers)
- Solid understanding of basic math, geometry, and trigonometry
- Familiarity with manufacturing and machine shop environments
- Knowledge of tooling, cutting fluids, and general machining practices
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
