Lead HVAC, central plant, geothermal and utility operations for Oberlin’s 2.4M sq. ft. campus (400+ acres). This full-time Administrative & Professional role reports to the Senior Director of Facility Operations and provides direct oversight of the campus geothermal system as part of the Sustainable Infrastructure Program (SIP). You’ll ensure safe, reliable, code-compliant MEP systems while advancing energy management, sustainability and campus decarbonization.
Key responsibilities
- Lead HVAC, central plant, geothermal and utility operations, maintenance and capital programming.
- Integrate, operate and optimize the campus geothermal system with Central Plant and decarbonization goals.
- Serve as campus MEP/Utility Facility Asset Manager: asset lifecycle planning, design standards, permitting and AHJ coordination.
- Oversee MEP design review, commissioning, budgets, staff and external consultants/contractors.
- Drive energy management, BAS/EMS optimization, and long-term capital renewal.
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related) and ~10+ years’ progressive experience with campus/institutional central plant/HVAC/utility systems; strong project management knowledge.
- Geothermal system experience; PE, advanced degree, BAS/CMMS/Revit experience preferred.
