Permanent roles

Seasonal rural hospitality operation

Subsidised accommodation available

Oyster Bar and Restaurant is looking for a Chef and a Front of House Manager to join its small, well established village pub and restaurant on the west coast, around 16 miles south of Oban. This opportunity is particularly well suited to a couple or duo looking for a longer term change of direction, though individual applications are equally welcome.

The opportunity

You will be joining a seasonal rural hospitality business in a beautiful but demanding location.

The main season is busy and high energy, with a quieter and more relaxed pace through the off season.

There is genuine scope for the right people to shape how the business is run, with support and guidance from the current management team.

This is not a lease or ownership commitment, but an opportunity to step into management responsibility without that level of risk.

Chef role
  • You will take responsibility for kitchen operations and food delivery.
  • You will design menus and specials, working creatively and confidently under pressure.
  • You will be comfortable working alone during service when required.
  • You will have a good understanding of allergens and food hygiene standards.
  • An interest in seafood and local produce would be beneficial.
Front of House Manager role
  • You will lead front of house service, providing a warm, professional welcome to guests.
  • You will move comfortably between bar and waiting duties as required.
  • You will manage till systems, booking systems, and close down procedures.
  • Cellar management and line cleaning experience is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.
  • An interest in organising low key entertainment such as quizzes or bingo nights during quieter months would be welcomed.
Working pattern

This is a seasonal hospitality operation with varied hours.

A driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential due to the rural location.

Local bus services do not align with working hours.

What we are looking for
  • You will be experienced, reliable, and comfortable working in a small team.
  • You will have a good sense of humour and a practical approach to hospitality.
  • You will be hard working during peak periods and adaptable in quieter months.
  • You will value teamwork, clear communication, and mutual support.
What is on offer
  • Permanent roles with long term potential.
  • Salaries and wages negotiable depending on experience.
  • Potential bonus structure linked to performance.
  • Subsidised off site accommodation available, which may be shared or individual depending on fit.
  • A genuine lifestyle change in a rural coastal location.
