Job Description & How to Apply Below

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Would you like to work in a supportive and welcoming team and have the opportunity to make a difference for patients?

We are looking for a Registered Nurse first level (Adult) to work on ward A at Lorn & Islands Hospital in Oban. Ward A is a surgical ward with 14 beds, receiving 24 hours daily and a Day Bed Unit for elective and emergency admissions. Patients requiring palliative and end-of-life care are also admitted.

This is a great opportunity to learn a wide range of nursing skills and gain experience working in a rural hospital in the beautiful seaside town of Oban.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to assess, plan and implement care for surgical patients. Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team are essential. Previous NHS experience working in a general surgical ward or acute setting is desirable, but newly qualified RNs are welcome as induction and surgical training will be provided.

The successful applicant will work predominantly on the ward unit but will need to be flexible to the needs of the service, as occasional support in the Day Bed Unit may be required.
