About Us We are a small but expanding archaeological company operating primarily across the East Midlands and East Anglia. With a well-established reputation for excellence in our field, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dependable Finance Officer to oversee day-to-day financial operations, support the smooth running of the business, and contribute to the effective financial management of archaeological projects.

This role is well suited to a flexible and capable individual who thrives on variety and responsibility, and who would welcome the opportunity to work closely with the business owner/director to consolidate and develop the company to its full potential. The position is part-time, working 15 hours a week.

The Role You will be the main point of contact for finance, working closely with the Director, Project Manager and our external accountant. You will take ownership of the core finance tasks and help ensure that the management team has accurate, up-to-date financial information.

Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, including purchase and sales ledgers Raise invoices, track payments, and follow up outstanding debts Process supplier invoices and payments Process and manage expense claims Carry out regular bank reconciliations Monitor cashflow and highlight any issues early Prepare monthly financial reports Complete VAT returns Maintain organised financial records for year-end and HMRC Work with external accountants and advisers Assist the director and project manager in tracking performance across projects About You Essential:
Experience in a bookkeeping, finance, or accounts role Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility Excellent communication skills Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills Confident using accounting software (primarily Xero) and Excel Practical, flexible, and happy working in a small team environment Desirable: AAT qualification or working towards one Experience in a small or owner-managed business Knowledge of payroll and/or pensions

Experience of working in a project orientated environment and/or knowledge of managing project finances
