What you’ll be working on

Responsible for the overall management and direction of the production process, leading the team in accordance with policies, procedures, regulations and laws. The Production Manager oversees departments in both the production room and sales floor, ensuring correct item pricing, shop-able racks, full merchandise utilization, seasonal backstock, efficient workflow and productive pace. Supervision includes quality checks and coaching to observe, assess and develop performance, while aligning with the Savers vision and Core Values.

Store

Performance
  • Ensure store performance meets financial targets and key metrics based on annual and quarterly operating plans.
  • Monitor and set the pace of work.
  • Analyze local market potential and key metrics to drive actions.
  • Inspect sales floor for shop-ability and ensure a positive customer/donor experience at all interactions.
  • Prioritize and direct team member activity.
Leadership and Development
  • Lead and supervise the work of supervisor(s) and production team members.
  • Plan staffing, recruitment, selection and training.
  • Observe, coach and counsel supervisors and team members; develop high-potential staff.
  • Maintain a respectful, values-driven workplace.
  • Facilitate open communication, address issues per policies, and provide recognition and candid feedback.
  • Fulfill manager-on-duty responsibilities and act as store manager when assigned.
Customer/Donor Service
  • Respond to customer/donor questions and complaints; train and coach staff on service expectations.
  • Engage with customers/donors to gather feedback and improve the experience.
  • Support sales and marketing promotions when required; assist donors per Company standards.
Consistent Production
  • Manage item readiness, production margins, pricing strategy and seasonal back stock.
  • Ensure all sellable items are available to customers.
  • Plan, schedule and direct work to meet sales, service, production, labor efficiency and profit objectives.
  • Oversee production workflow, quality control, and maintenance routines.
  • Lead morning maintenance to prepare the floor for business; leverage learnings.
  • Collaborate with Community Donation Manager/Retail Sales Manager on flow and process.
  • Ensure accuracy of daily stock-on-hand and merchandise supply requirements.
  • Leverage the Savers recycling program to reduce landfill and promote reuse.
Loss Prevention and Safety
  • Protect assets and information; promote loss prevention awareness and uphold procedures.
  • Maintain a safe work environment; support Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
  • Oversee certification processes for Big Joe, baler and LOTO.

In the absence of the Store Manager, oversees the store and team in accordance with all policies and procedures, and performs other tasks as directed by supervisors.

Minimum Required Education, Training and Experience
  • High School diploma; post-secondary degree/diploma preferred.
  • Experience in results-driven retail store management or industrial management.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; push/pull heavy loads as required.
  • Frequent reaching, standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting; occasional kneeling.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination; keyboarding and merchandise inspection tasks.
  • Frequent reading of written/electronic documents and product labels.
  • Constant communication with management, staff and customers; occasional exposure to hazards.
