Schedule: Monday to Thursday from 2 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. (subject to change)

Status: Permanent, full-time

Are you a motivated, detail-oriented individual with a passion for quality and food safety? We’re currently seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join our dynamic team at our food blending manufacturing facility in Oakville, Ontario. In this essential role you will support the Quality and Operations teams by ensuring our products meet the highest standards of safety and excellence. Your responsibilities will include conducting pre‑operational inspections, enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), supporting food safety culture, and performing quality testing on both raw materials and finished blends.

Responsibilities
  • Perform pre‑operational inspection checks to confirm production equipment is functional and food‑safe before start‑up.
  • Inspect raw materials, blended products, and packaging for compliance with specifications.
  • Verify and monitor lot numbers to ensure no expired ingredients are used.
  • Ensure employees adhere to GMPs related to food safety and health & safety.
  • Initiate product hold as required per deviation procedures or incidents in consultation with the Quality Manager.
  • Perform environmental swabs and authorize dry‑cleaning approval.
  • Support sampling of incoming ingredients for laboratory testing.
  • Collect and organize daily production and HACCP‑related reports.
  • Conduct daily GMP inspections of production and warehouse areas and ensure follow‑up actions are completed.
  • Perform daily calibration of all laboratory equipment and complete required documentation.
  • Support production with timely resolution of deviations and non‑conformance corrections to restore control and implement segregation or detention as required.
  • Assist with metal detection issue resolution if needed.
  • Maintain Good Laboratory Practice at all times.
  • Ensure collection of finished samples for testing and complete all necessary documentation.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in a related field; a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or Chemistry is an asset.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Food Safety, preferably in a food manufacturing or blending environment.
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety standards.
  • Familiarity with SQF, BRC, or other recognized food safety certification programs.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, sampling procedures, and laboratory testing protocols.
  • Experience with lot traceability, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and non‑conformance reporting.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office, ERP, and inventory systems.
  • Team‑oriented with flexibility to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑performance environment.
  • Ability to make timely decisions and resolve issues effectively.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory and safety standards, including (but not limited to) BRC Issue 8, OHSA, WSIA, ESA, CSA, Ontario Fire Code, and HRA.
Work Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift 25–50 pounds, and work in production areas (sometimes cold/hot or dusty).
  • Must follow all safety and hygiene procedures, including PPE use.
  • This role is fully on‑site in Oakville, Ontario.
