Job SummaryReporting to the Chief/Director of Paramedic Services, the Deputy Chief, Logistics leads the delivery of all aspects of the Paramedic Services Division logistics program. This program includes equipment and supply sourcing and management, linen, uniforms, inventory tracking and reporting, vehicle procurement and commissioning, and facility design. As a member of the Paramedic Services leadership team, this position is responsible for meeting or exceeding all provincial legislation/regulations and standards while ensuring service excellence for residents.
Duties & Responsibilities- Provide strong leadership skills; promotes collaboration, integrity, and transparency to create a positive and open workplace culture.
- Provide strategic direction for the logistics program, incorporating best practices, and continuous improvement into all functions.
- Continually investigate and make recommendations on innovative strategies to deliver the logistics program.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, safety, innovation, and customer service.
- Possess and maintain a sound knowledge of logistic best practices ensuring efficient utilization of assigned resources, monitors/recommends program revisions.
- Assist in the overall goal setting, development of objectives, policies and procedures and mid/long-term plans for provision of paramedic services.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships through regular engagement with stakeholders, allied agencies, Ministry of Health representatives, local municipalities, vendors, and other departments to ensure effective and coordinated service delivery.
- Assist in the development and administration of the annual budget and maintains accountability for ensuring expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
- Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to procure vehicles, equipment, supplies, medication, linen, uniforms, preventative maintenance services etc. in compliance with applicable legislation and corporate policies.
- Act as the Divisional lead for health & safety compliance, ensures health & safety protocols and education are in place and compliant with legislative, corporate, and industry requirements.
- Lead Divisional liaison with corporate fleet, facilities, capital construction, and information technology.
- Compile and report on key performance data through analysis of logistics and fleet related items.
- Oversee the Logistics response to ensure adequate support in the event of a Multi-Casualty Incident.
- Participate in the advancement of the central reporting station model.
- Serve as on-call Duty Manager on a rotating basis.
- Serve as Incident Commander for any major incidents arising during the on-call cycle.
- Support the Regional Emergency Operations Centre as required.
