Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with inspection of facilities and premises to assess compliance with pertinent acts, regulations and by‑laws such as food premises, personal service settings, and recreational water facilities.
  • Assist with investigations regarding complaints, health hazards, and or communicable diseases.
  • Collect samples for analysis to measure biological parameters in recreational water.
  • Collect, interpret and report on laboratory test results.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of certified Public Health Inspectors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential

Skills & Qualifications
  • Enrolled or completing an approved Environmental Public Health program that is recognized by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI).
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills along with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Competency in current computer programmes (Microsoft Office).
Preferred
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have completed the CIPHI approved Environmental Public Health Program and are preparing for the CIPHI Board of Certification Exams in October 2026.
Working Conditions
  • Travel may be required between locations within Halton Region and GTA.
  • Must supply own transportation and have a valid Ontario driver’s license.
  • Flexibility in work schedule may be required for after hours and weekend work.
Employment Conditions
  • The incumbents will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment.
  • The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Record Check by the first day of employment.
