Eligibility to Apply
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
  • Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary educational institution on a full‑time basis and returning to school upon completion of the co‑op work term(s).

This position will require the successful incumbent to provide proof of co‑op eligibility, a transcript and tax credit form(s) from their school’s co‑op department.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Asset Management, this co‑op position will support activities related to adopting best practices in municipal infrastructure management such as developing asset whole‑life cycle management strategies and standardized frameworks to implement Halton Region’s asset management plan and leverage opportunities for continuous improvement. This position may be of interest to you if you are an individual that:

  • Understands the role of municipal government in delivering critical services to communities.
  • Has a basic understanding in the discipline of infrastructure Asset Management.
  • Has a blend of engineering / planning / data science / technical knowledge and business acumen.
  • Enjoys analytical work and also coordinating/facilitating activities with a broad range of stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist Asset Management staff with collecting data on condition, performance and risk for updating asset registries, and a decision‑support system for municipal Water, Wastewater, Roads, Storm and Solid Waste Management Services.
  • Apply asset management principles to document service levels and criticality of assets to inform development of state of good repair budget for Public Works.
  • Manage and analyze large data sets and apply statistical and/or spatial analysis on Public Works asset inventory and capital budget project information, such as financial trends and infrastructure performance history‑this will be done utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), GIS, IPFS, Outlook and Power

    BI to assist with analysis and summarizing results.
  • Be a part of an exciting and evolving asset management program and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to manage information and report Public Works metrics effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, multi‑task, and communication through various media is important in this position, as is attention to detail.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
