OverviewCanada’s Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is one of the country’s largest tax incentive programmes, designed to encourage Canadians to carry out research and development and foster technological innovation. KPMG’s Tax Incentives Practice (TIP) is a multidisciplinary team of engineers and accountants that helps clients obtain tax savings through initiatives such as SR&ED. We are seeking an individual with a solid engineering background who is eager to work on cutting‑edge innovations across a range of industries.
Responsibilities- Be exposed to new and exciting technologies and state‑of‑the‑art innovations in mechanical and chemical engineering.
- Work with Senior Managers to support client technical interviews and examine operations to identify SR&ED‑eligible projects and activities.
- Summarise eligible client activities in a technical report.
- Plan and execute multiple engagements on time and within budget.
- Develop and manage client relationships and expectations.
- Maintain an understanding of the SR&ED program and keep up to date with changes in legislation.
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 2 years of progressive industry experience.
- Experience in SR&ED or other R&D‑related government tax incentive programmes is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong interest in staying current with cutting‑edge technologies and trends.
- Analytical thinker capable of drawing inferences and making unexpected connections.
- Highly driven, autonomous, resilient, and a team player with a strong work ethic.
