Role DescriptionArcadis is searching for a Principal – Ontario Land Surveyor to join its growing team. This person will lead, initiate and provide professional oversight for the Land Survey division in Ontario.

Accountabilities- Provide expert leadership and technical guidance as the lead Ontario Land surveyor, supporting both staff and broader regional initiatives.
- Plan, direct and oversee the activities of the Geomatics Technical Support Unit, ensuring responsiveness to evolving priorities and project timelines.
- Offer strategic input on the development of Geomatics policies, standards, and quality assurance frameworks.
- Work with the Business Unit Lead and Business Unit Director to drive growth in Ontario for the Land Surveying Division.
- Qualified Ontario Land Surveyor in good standing with the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors.
- Over 8 years of relevant experience.
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or a related field is advantageous.
- Ensures compliance with all responsibilities outlined in the AOLS Certificate of Authorization.
- Majority owner of the Land Surveying firm to meet AOLS registration requirements.
- Cultivates and nurtures client relationships and prepares proposals.
- Actively seeks out and explores business prospects.
- Proficient in using industry‑standard surveying software and equipment.
- Familiarity with Trimble and Civil3D is advantageous.
- Demonstrates exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams, including planners, architects, and engineers, is beneficial.
- Demonstrates significant experience in overseeing field and office staff in land survey preparation, ownership, title research, and the creation of title opinions, reports, and correspondence.
- Comprehensive understanding of the relevant legislation and regulatory standards governing Land Surveying in Ontario.
- Coordinate with consultants, municipal staff, and internal teams to secure approvals efficiently and on schedule.
- Ability to integrate emerging technologies (e.g., LiDAR, drones) to enhance survey capabilities and innovation — an asset.
- Knowledgeable in land development surveys such as Subdivision, Condominium, Boundary retracements, Topographic surveys, and Easement mapping — an asset.
- Capable of signing and professionally certifying legal surveys.
- Business development and management of the Land development team.
- Meeting all AOLS Continual Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
