Overview

The Mechanical Piping Engineer at T Engineering plays a key role in delivering engineering design, project execution, and technical expertise for mining and processing operations. This role involves designing piping systems both in process plant, overland piping and underground pipeline. Responsibilities also include performing technical analyses, reviewing 3D models, and supporting the production of drawings, including IFC drawings. The ability to prepare fabrication drawings will be considered a strong asset.

This position requires both technical depth and practical field experience. A solid background in mining, long‑distance pipeline, milling, batch plants, water treatment, or process plants is highly valued, along with proven knowledge of backfill systems and slurry transport. The role also calls for the ability to mentor junior staff. Familiarity with hydraulic calculations, stress analysis and proficiency in piping standards are essential skills.

Responsibilities
  • Strong experience in hydraulic calculation, line sizing and pump sizing.
  • Conduct piping stress analysis.
  • Design piping system with good knowledge of ASME B31.3 and B31.4.
  • Develop piping material specifications, and work with structural engineers to develop pipe support designs.
  • When needed, conduct fieldwork to gather site data, validate designs, and support construction activities.
  • Support project execution from concept through detailed design to construction.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Provide input on mechanical equipment selection and integration into process systems.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers and drafters, sharing technical expertise.
  • Coordinate with fabrication and construction teams to resolve design‑related issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design methods, tools, and workflows.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety responsibilities under all applicable regulations and T Engineering policies.
Qualifications
  • Must be a Registered Professional Engineer in Canada or in the US (PEng. and/or PE)
  • 8+ years of relevant consulting or operating experience in mining, milling, or process engineering.
  • Proven expertise in piping design, hydraulic model, proficiency with Caesar modeling an asset.
  • Experience with non‑Newtonian fluid and rheology an asset.
  • Proven expertise in process piping, overland piping and underground piping design.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and general computer applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring ability, and teamwork mindset.
  • A strong commitment to Safety First values in all work.
