Assistant Program Director, Summer Boarding Programs 2026 – Appleby College
Appleby College’s Summer Boarding Program welcomes participants from around the world with diverse languages and backgrounds. Participants attend to enhance their English language skills and experience Canada.
Program DetailsSeason:
Summer June – August 2026
Compensation: $900 weekly
Program Planning and Development
- Assist the Program Director in enhancing program quality through planning.
- Create activity resources aligned with program themes, weekly schedules, and evening activities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and risk‑management procedures.
- Support creation and facilitation of pre‑season and ongoing staff training sessions.
- Serve as on‑site lead in the absence of the Program Director, acting as primary contact for incidents.
- Support boarding staff in delivering program plans and facilitating participant activities.
- Promote a positive, encouraging, and respectful environment reflecting Appleby’s values.
- Communicate effectively regarding participant needs or behavioural concerns.
- Assist with program documentation, attendance, and activity records.
- Participate in required training, daily meetings, and post‑season evaluations.
- Supervise participants during activities, mealtimes, excursions, and campus events.
- Assist with setup, organization, and cleanup of daily activities.
- Encourage participation to foster confidence and team spirit.
- Manage program equipment and ensure supplies are in good condition.
- Follow Appleby College policies, including the Mutual Respect Policy and health‑safety procedures.
- Leadership experience in overnight camp or residential/recreational setting.
- Strong skills in working with children and youth ages 10–17.
- Experience teaching or leading a staff team in a camp or educational environment.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Confidence and comfort leading games, group activities, and community‑building events.
- Room and board provided for the duration of the contract.

- Pre‑Summer Training Days:
June 2, 9, 16 2026 – 8:00 am to 4:00 pm - Move‑In, Training & Orientation:
June 22–24 2026 - Program Sessions:
June 25 – August 23 2026 (weekly evenings and weekends, five days per week; two consecutive mid‑week days off per week) - Weekday On‑Duty
Hours:
Morning 7:30 am–9:30 am, Off 9:30 am–3:00 pm;
Afternoon 3:30 pm to 11:00 pm; weekend hours vary.
