Overview

Nurse Practitioners (FNP) or Physician Assistants (PA-C) with acute care experience in ER, Urgent Care, or Internal Medicine are invited to join our growing team serving the Northern Virginia community. Our Advanced Practice Providers work with Dispatch Health Medical Technicians to deliver comprehensive, in-home care for patients of all ages. Services include diagnosis, treatment, and outcome management, along with point-of-care lab studies, minor procedures, wound care, suturing, IV fluid and medication administration, and coordinated follow-up care.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a clinical care team with a Dispatch Health Medical Technician (DHMT) to deliver in-home care, including driving or riding in a company vehicle to the service location.
  • Perform comprehensive health assessments, diagnose and treat complex illnesses, and provide therapeutic interventions (splinting, suturing, wound care, minor procedures).
  • Use critical thinking and evidence-based practice; document encounters accurately and thoroughly.
  • Analyze test data, arrange appropriate follow-up, and ensure continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment, management of acute illness, and overall wellness.
  • Navigate difficult conversations related to end-of-life issues and goals of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, primary care providers, and other care team members.
  • Identify and proactively solve problems; adhere to clinical and safety standards, protocols, and performance metrics.
  • Maintain professional relationships with DHMT partners and remote teams; attend trainings and team meetings; serve as an ambassador for Dispatch Health.
  • Deliver care independently as business needs dictate (without a Medical Technician when required).
Ideal Candidate
  • Holds an APP license in the state of VA.
  • 2+ years of APP experience in Emergency, Urgent Care, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or related settings.
  • BLS certified; ACLS certification preferred.
  • Prescriptive authority and DEA license.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate multiple flights of stairs with equipment.
  • Ready to operate with a company vehicle; company-provided liability and malpractice insurance.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available at this time.
What You'll Do
  • Deliver care in patients’ homes as part of a mobile in-home care service line, potentially in a mobile unit or company vehicle.
  • Perform comprehensive health assessments, diagnose and treat complex illnesses, and provide therapeutic interventions.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and manage follow-up plans for continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and families and support goals of care discussions; communicate with the care team to ensure coordinated care.
  • Adhere to safety standards, protocols, and quality metrics; maintain compassionate, culturally competent care.
  • Engage with Dispatch Health leadership and remote teams to advance patient outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of APP experience in relevant settings (emergency, urgent care, internal medicine, hospital, family practice, cardiac, pulmonary, etc.).
  • Graduate degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unrestricted state license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • National board certification (current).
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred.
  • Prescriptive authority and DEA registration.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and ability to complete required driver training on hire.
