Description

Spend your summer at camp! Spend your summer on the water helping campers build confidence, skills, and a love for boating! The Boating Instructor is responsible for providing safe, engaging instruction and supervision in the camp’s boating area. This role includes teaching proper paddling techniques, watercraft entry and exit, and equipment use while creating a fun, supportive environment for all participants.

With a strong focus on safety and hands‑on learning, the Boating Instructor plays an important role in delivering memorable waterfront experiences throughout the summer.

Essential Functions
  • Providing proper information, training and supervision of the boating area.
  • Teach proper strokes & techniques and how to properly enter and exit the watercraft.
  • Assist campers/visitors with boating equipment.
  • Follow proper area opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure the safety of all campers & guests utilizing the waterfront area.
  • Apply the boating area policies and procedures at all times.
  • Instruct skills and safety classes, and administer different levels.
  • Inspect issue and maintain boating equipment; document unsafe equipment and remove from the inventory to be repaired or replaced.
  • Provide first aid in emergency situations.
Requirements KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
  • Current Adult, Child & Infant CPR/AED and first aid certification or be willing to become certified within 90 days of employment.
  • Certified Small Crafts
    - Kayak/Canoeing Boating Level 1, or other equivalent certification.
  • Knowledge of the outdoors and basic survival skills.
  • Must be 18 or older.
Experience
  • Prior experience working with kids.
  • Must be able to demonstrate and teach patrons and members the proper techniques and fundamentals of personal watercraft and sailing.
  • Experience piloting sailing craft preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday-Thursday (12pm-4pm) June – August.
