Starting pay for drivers is $16.89 per hour. No prior professional driving experience is required.

Adept at safely transporting railroad crew members, the Van Driver will respond to round‑the‑clock requests from our railroad customers. Safety is the number one priority, and drivers will support dispatchers in coordinating pickups and drop‑offs.

With over 40 years of service, PTI is the nation’s largest rail crew transportation company, providing dependable shuttle services to railroad crews across the country.

Job Summary

As a PTI Van Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting railroad crew members wherever the railroad requests. Trip length and times vary depending on railroad customer needs. Safety is always our #1 priority and should be the main focus for our Van Drivers.

  • The hourly rate for this role is specific to Oakland, CA. The rate for other locations may vary. Programs and options vary by hire date, schedule type, and collective bargaining agreements.
Responsibilities
  • Promote and practice safety awareness.
  • Prioritize on‑time performance to meet customer needs.
  • Pick up and drop off customers safely to their destinations.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Communicate timely with our Dispatch Center.
  • Open and close all doors/hatches for crew members.
  • Report any defects, mechanical problems, or missing items found during vehicle inspection to supervisor.
  • Promote and follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 3 years driving experience (personal or work-related).
  • Must pass post‑offer drug screening, MVR, and homeland security background check.
  • Ability to arrive at the branch location within 30 minutes to ensure on‑time performance.
