Location: Oakland, CA / Alameda County
Job Type: Part-time or Full-Time
Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructors work one‑on‑one with adults with developmental disabilities to empower clients to reach their personal goals of independence and community participation. You will train to teach key life skills in a motivating, personalized, and professional environment.
Responsibilities- Support adults with developmental disabilities in achieving personal independence.
- Teach practical skills such as budgeting, basic cooking, transportation, and more.
- Manage money, medical/dental/medication, cooking, public transportation, housing, benefits, community involvement, and household maintenance.
- Drive to meet clients in their homes and community (mileage reimbursed).
You will typically work with 3–6 clients per week in Alameda and possibly Contra Costa counties.
Minimum Requirements- Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license.
- Personal auto liability insurance with minimum limits of $100,000 per person / $300,000 per accident.
- Ability to pass a DOJ/FBI fingerprint background check.
- Desire to help others and learn new skills.
- Comfortable driving to client locations (mileage reimbursed).
