• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and other systems.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems and components; inspect and test using appropriate instruments; road test vehicles to verify proper operation.
• Manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck; conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve issues, and satisfy expectations.
• Handle concurrent tasks with effective prioritization; obtain approvals on repair estimates and purchase orders as needed.
• Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks; document work performed and parts used on Repair Orders using company devices and TRAIT application.
• Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion; maintain safety, health, and environmental compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
• Work with independence to manage daily schedule and maintain productivity within standard repair times.
• Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs.

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience; or alternative combinations with higher education or 5 years’ related experience.
• Possess and provide a set of hand tools necessary to perform job duties.
• Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
• Must be able to pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical; a current DOT medical card may be substituted in some cases.
• Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority; valid driver’s license; ability to obtain and maintain Driver Qualification File.
• Safe driving record and ability to drive an assigned service vehicle.

• Ability to learn new information and apply it to problem-solving and decision making.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; capable of moderately heavy labor.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey information clearly; effective two-way communication with clients and team members.
• Ability to determine required tools and equipment; use logic to evaluate solutions and approaches.
