Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various truck equipment including, but not limited to electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, air‑conditioning, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they operate properly.
  • Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards, uploading pictures, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using the company‑issued iOS device and TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
  • Work independently and manage own daily schedule.
  • Maintain high productivity and meet standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary.
  • Communicate with management via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase order numbers, and Repair Order notes.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Possess and supply necessary hand tools.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
  • Must complete a DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical (or a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining).
  • Minimum age 21 due to interstate operating authority.
  • Valid driver’s license; hold a Driver Qualification File.
Required Certifications (within 18 months)
  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification.
