Service Technician

Mr. Rooter Plumbing is an independently and locally owned family business, proudly led by Spencer and Erika Ferguson. As a third-generation plumbing company, we specialize in full-service plumbing repairs, drain cleaning, and same-day/next-day emergency services. Our administrative office is based in Oakland, but our service territory encompasses San Francisco and the Peninsula, which is the area we are actively hiring for.

Mr. Rooter Plumbing is seeking a skilled and motivated Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide top-notch plumbing and drain cleaning services to residential and commercial clients, primarily in San Francisco and the Peninsula, operating from our satellite location. As a key member of our family-owned business, you’ll uphold our commitment to quality workmanship, excellent customer service, and same-day/next-day emergency response.

• Diagnose and repair a wide range of plumbing issues, including leaks, clogs, water heaters, and sewer lines, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
• Be able to offer multiple options for Premium system renovations, midrange and economy repairs.
• Perform drain cleaning, hydro-jetting, and other preventive maintenance services.
• Provide exceptional customer service by explaining issues, offering solutions, and maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
• Respond promptly to same-day and next-day emergency service calls in San Francisco and Peninsula areas.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to assess plumbing systems accurately.
• Complete service reports, maintain accurate records, and communicate job status to the Service Manager.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company standards to ensure a safe working environment.
• Upsell additional services or products when appropriate to meet customer needs and support business growth.
• Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on plumbing techniques and technologies.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a plumbing technician or in a related field.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, drain cleaning, and repair techniques.
• Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts for emergency services.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in confined spaces as needed.
• California Journeyman Plumber License or equivalent certification is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with local plumbing codes, including Oakland’s Municipal Code Chapter 13.08 (preferred).
