BSG is seeking dedicated Campus Residential Security Officers for a prestigious private university in Oakland. The primary responsibility is to ensure access control of residence halls through high visibility, deterrence, patrols, and community engagement. Officers are expected to foster positive relationships with students, staff, and visitors, promoting a safe and welcoming environment. Responsibilities include acting as first responders to emergencies, monitoring security, communications, and fire/life safety systems, accurately documenting events, and enforcing campus residential rules.
Qualifications- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Possess a current California Guard Card License.
- A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record are required for applicable sites.
- Reliable transportation is necessary.
- Proficient in basic computer and smartphone usage.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to create accurate reports; additional language skills are a plus.
- Strong listening skills, patience, and compassion, particularly when interacting with community members experiencing emotional or psychological challenges.
- Ability to remain calm in crisis situations, think critically, de-escalate conflicts, and communicate effectively.
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor in adherence to all laws, regulations, company policies, and confidentiality standards.
- Ensure compliance with both company and client policies and procedures while being open to performance improvement.
- Possess a clear understanding of emergency response procedures and protocols.
- At least one year of experience in security, mobile patrol, or event staff roles.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
- Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods; ability to sit while driving, walk or stand for long periods, including traversing outdoor areas with uneven surfaces.
- Regularly climb stairs and navigate multi-level buildings to perform patrols and checks.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds to move or secure equipment.
- Physical endurance to withstand various weather conditions during outdoor patrols.
- Manual dexterity to operate security equipment such as radios, keys, and locks.
- Ability to sprint short distances if needed to respond to emergencies.
- Physical stamina to work long hours while remaining alert and focused.
- Kneeling and bending to check low-level areas and assist in emergencies.
- Good vision and hearing to observe surroundings and detect alarms or distress.
- Patrol and Surveillance:
Perform regular patrols of assigned areas, including multi-level buildings and outdoor spaces, while standing or walking for extended periods. Climb stairs frequently to inspect all areas. - Incident Response:
Respond to emergencies or incidents promptly and operate security equipment efficiently. - Equipment Handling:
Lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds and secure heavy items as needed. - Situational Awareness:
Monitor surroundings and detect potential security threats using vision and hearing. - Conflict Resolution:
De-escalate stressful situations with professionalism and effective communication. - Prolonged Alertness:
Maintain focus during long shifts to ensure safety and security. - Emergency Preparedness:
Assist in evacuations or other emergency responses as needed. - Reporting and Documentation:
Keep accurate logs and prepare clear incident reports. - Professionalism:
Maintain professional demeanor, adhere to laws, policies, and client protocols; uphold grooming and uniform standards.
