Basic Purpose

To provide for the nutritional needs of Family Center residents and the children of the Booth Memorial Child Development Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare all foods for daily consumption and special events.
• Supervise volunteers and community service workers.
• Ensure cleanliness of dining and kitchen areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen fixtures and equipment.
• Receive and organize kitchen deliveries.
• Report emergencies or equipment issues.
• Manage pantry and storage cleanliness and organization.
• Assist with shopping and inventory management.
• Prepare meals for children and families as per schedule.
• Transport meals to the center.
• Provide allergy-friendly and medical-specific food options.
• Keep records of food preparation, transportation, and servings.
• Participate in relevant trainings and meetings.
• Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and equipment.
• Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

• Customer service, crisis intervention, and mediation skills.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment and follow procedures.
• Professional interaction with staff, volunteers, and clients.
• Experience working with homeless populations is preferred.
• Understanding of healthy cooking and proper serving sizes.
• Adherence to safe food handling practices.

Certificates and Licenses

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Food Handler permit under California Safety Code 97-0071 or willingness to obtain within 6 months.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to operate basic office and kitchen equipment.
