Basic Purpose
To provide for the nutritional needs of Family Center residents and the children of the Booth Memorial Child Development Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare all foods for daily consumption and special events.
- Supervise volunteers and community service workers.
- Ensure cleanliness of dining and kitchen areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen fixtures and equipment.
- Receive and organize kitchen deliveries.
- Report emergencies or equipment issues.
- Manage pantry and storage cleanliness and organization.
- Assist with shopping and inventory management.
- Prepare meals for children and families as per schedule.
- Transport meals to the center.
- Provide allergy-friendly and medical-specific food options.
- Keep records of food preparation, transportation, and servings.
- Participate in relevant trainings and meetings.
- Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and equipment.
- Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
- Customer service, crisis intervention, and mediation skills.
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment and follow procedures.
- Professional interaction with staff, volunteers, and clients.
- Experience working with homeless populations is preferred.
- Understanding of healthy cooking and proper serving sizes.
- Adherence to safe food handling practices.
Certificates and Licenses
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Food Handler permit under California Safety Code 97-0071 or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate basic office and kitchen equipment.
