Overview
The East Bay Regional Park District is seeking Park Operations Aides for the 2026 summer season. This seasonal, hourly position involves outdoor work supporting the public in park facilities and operations. Applicants who previously worked as Gate Attendants/Student Laborers should apply separately; hybrid or dual roles are not available for the 2026 season.
Responsibilities- Perform unskilled manual tasks in parks (garbage collection, trash removal, sweeping, restroom cleaning, restocking supplies, loading/unloading, graffiti removal, weed abatement, and related cleanup).
- Assist Park Rangers with irrigation, maintenance, and related park-building tasks; may operate park equipment or carts as assigned.
- Explain park rules and assist visitors; respond to visitor questions; perform related duties as assigned.
- Essential: perform various cleaning and maintenance tasks and support daily park operations.
- Other: assist other staff with park projects as needed.
- Age: 15 1/2 years at time of appointment.
- Experience:
None required.
- Pass a Level 1 background check.
- Must wear a Park District uniform.
- May be required to work unusual hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- One summer season with a minimum of 350 hours before progression to the next pay step.
- AFSCME Local 2428 represented; limited rights as described in district policy.
Knowledge: safe work procedures; use of hand tools; basic office procedures and software. Abilities: perform manual labor; follow directions; operate basic office equipment; communicate clearly; build positive working relationships with a diverse public and staff. Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds.
