Objective of the Assignment

The Ameri Corps VISTA member will focus on updating and expanding Safe Passages' Recruitment Plan, working collaboratively with the Recruitment and Marketing Coordinator and the organization's staff to identify, engage, and mobilize volunteers. This position serves under the direction of the Recruitment & Marketing Coordinator and works closely with Safe Passages staff to strengthen volunteer recruitment systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Safe Passages staff to review and enhance the existing Recruitment Plan.
  • Conduct school site visits to assess the number and types of volunteers needed.
  • Research Recruitment Best Practices and explore potential partnerships with businesses and community-based organizations.
  • Work with Safe Passages staff to develop a comprehensive volunteer database.
  • Prepare and present the preliminary Recruitment Plan to the Safe Passages Management Team.
Recruitment and Outreach
  • Work with School Resources VISTAs to determine effective strategies for recruiting volunteers from school communities.
  • Collaborate with the Social Media VISTA to develop impactful outreach and marketing materials.
  • Work with Safe Passages staff to design incentives, such as letters of recommendation, to attract volunteers.
  • Explore opportunities to present organizational volunteer opportunities in various forums.
  • Schedule and implement presentations throughout the Safe Passages Network and beyond.
  • Work with the Social Media VISTA to disseminate marketing materials widely using social media outlets.
  • Hone the Recruitment Plan for future use.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Passion for community development and volunteer engagement.
