You Are
  • A transformative fundraising strategist who can build ANBA’s development function from the ground up—creating the frameworks, systems, segmentation strategies, and multi-year plan the organization has never had but urgently needs.
  • A mission-driven advocate who deeply understands the experiences and challenges faced by adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families—and can translate that understanding into compelling cases for support.
  • A data-informed, tech-savvy fundraiser with recent, real-world experience using modern outreach methods, donor segmentation, and digital tools to engage different generations, grow visibility, and reach new donor audiences across Northern California’s deep philanthropic landscape.
  • A confident, inspiring communicator—someone who can speak persuasively face-to-face, motivate the Board, guide the Executive Director, and bring clarity, direction, and best-practice fundraising expertise to a team still developing its fundraising “muscle.”
  • A collaborative, strategic leader who can partner closely with the Board and Executive Director to develop realistic revenue targets, articulate a path to success, diversify funding beyond government sources, and strengthen ANBA’s brand and community footprint to fuel long-term growth.
Position Overview

The Director of Development plays a key leadership role in advancing ANBA’s mission by developing and executing a multi-year fund development and marketing plan. Reporting to the Executive Director and serving on the Leadership Team, this role oversees individual giving, institutional fundraising, events, marketing, and donor engagement while strengthening long-term revenue growth.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Planning, Implementation & Operational Oversight – Lead revenue strategy development, implementation, and operations across non-governmental revenue sources.
  • Develop and execute individual and institutional giving, grants, events, and pipeline development initiatives.
  • Marketing & Brand Leadership – Develop and implement a marketing and brand strategy to elevate ANBA’s mission visibility.
  • Donor & Partner Engagement – Responsible for a comprehensive donor stewardship program through communication, events, and personal outreach.
  • Cultivate partnerships and relationships that generate new revenue opportunities.
  • Develop and implement short-, intermediate-, and long-term solicitation strategies for top prospects.
  • Financial Accountability – Partner with leadership and the Board to develop and achieve annual revenue goals.
  • Staff Management – Recruit, supervise, and mentor development staff, volunteers, and consultants.
  • Board Development – Support Board members in donor engagement, solicitation, and stewardship; participate in Board and Committee recruitment.
