This position is an Oakland University Campus Maintenance and Trades – MEA / NEA position. The incumbent will be represented by the MEA / NEA .

Position Information

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• The ability to read the directions for the use and/or mixing of various cleaning chemicals and compounds and written instructions.
• Performs physically active work requiring frequent standing, reaching, walking, bending, shoveling, pulling, pushing, climbing on a ladder and lifting in order to perform various cleaning and set-up tasks.
• Frequent lifting requiring the execution of up to sixty pounds of force to move and use supplies, use cleaning aids and equipment.
• Works with cleaning chemicals and compounds and polishing materials that may produce strong and/or offensive odors.
• May work in various weather conditions with extremes in heat and cold.
• Completion of a physical to verify the applicants ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Work sample to demonstrate the applicants ability to perform the duties of the position.
• May require a valid drivers license acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier.

Desired Qualifications

Previous custodial/janitorial experience is desirable.

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.

To perform cleaning activities and maintain assigned areas in various campus classroom and office buildings and on an emergency basis, perform grounds related tasks
