Environmental Lead Job Description
The Environmental Lead is responsible for supporting and maintaining all functions of the environmental department. This role serves as the primary point of communication regarding environmental and maintenance-related matters and oversees daily work performed by equipment operators, pickers, and cleaners, ensuring all activities meet Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards. The Lead also assists with maintenance reporting and related tasks to reduce downtime and enhance overall operational performance.
ResponsibilitiesSupport production tasks as needed.
Perform picking, loading, and unloading of shipments.
Conduct general cleaning and maintenance duties.
Remove trash and debris through sweeping, shoveling, and related tasks.
Ensure a safe and compliant environment for all employees, customers, and visitors by promoting safe work practices and maintaining hazard-free areas.
2–3 years of experience working in an outdoor environment.
Prior supervisory or managerial experience.
Experience handling universal waste.
Understanding of machinery, tools, repair processes, raw materials, and production workflows.
Skills & Qualifications
General construction knowledge.
Computer data entry skills.
Experience in picking and production.
Experience leading a team.

Work EnvironmentThe facility includes both an indoor production area and a large outdoor yard featuring heavy machinery, moving equipment, and high-noise conditions. The environment is dusty, and the role will primarily work inside the warehouse located at the front of the site. Steel-toe shoes, work pants, and a plain t-shirt or sweater are required, with a safety vest provided. Morning shift runs 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, with overtime on Saturdays as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
