Gladman is licensed as a 40‑bed Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC) providing sub‑acute psychiatric treatment to adults 18 and older.

MISSION STATEMENT

Telecare will deliver and manage excellent services and systems of care for persons with serious mental illness.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Maintenance Worker performs tasks that involve the facility’s physical plant, equipment, and grounds maintenance. Duties encompass a variety of carpentry, electrical, and environmental services assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two (2) years experience as a building maintenance worker, handyperson, boiler worker, or a related position is required.
  • Experience in a health‑care setting is preferred.
  • High School graduation or GED is required.
  • Skills in plumbing, carpentry, masonry, electrical, heating and air conditioning repair.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English; willingness to work with adults who have mental impairments.
  • Valid Class II California Driver’s License and insurability.
  • Finger‑printed and cleared by the Criminal Justice Department.

  • Demonstrate Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with clients, the public and other staff members.
Quality and Quantity of Work
  • Perform tasks correctly and according to policies and procedures.
  • Electrical tasks:
  • Check facility temperature, maintain log, adjust thermostats to keep temperature between 72‑74 °F.
  • Check and log boilers and water temperature.
  • Check all exit lights and other facility lights, replacing as needed.
  • Complete all sheet‑rock repairs, including sanding and painting within one week of damage.
  • Other maintenance tasks:
  • Pick up trash from the front of the facility.
  • Respond to all work requests, complete the task and associated paperwork.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled and assigned.
  • Check and clean the facility vehicles each week.
  • Respond to immediate maintenance and repair problems; participate in alternating on‑call schedule for emergencies (beeper).

  • Participate as a team member, provide input via reporting observations, concerns and asking appropriate questions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Professional Assault Response Training (PART) principles and use PART concepts to manage aggressive behavior.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and proper use of equipment and supplies.
Relationships with Others
  • Demonstrate good rapport and cooperative working relationships with all team members; respond to co‑workers with concern and promote group morale.
Quality Improvement
  • Continually focus on assigned tasks and seek and implement improvements as necessary.
  • Understand and demonstrate the safety program in all activities.
Customer and Community Relations
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Telecare’s customers including clients, families and governmental agencies in all interactions and conduct.
  • Act in a professional manner, always demonstrating respect and understanding of the community and neighborhood when representing Telecare in the community.
Planning and Time Utilization
  • Complete and follow through with tasks and assignments, meeting expected deadlines.
Attendance and Reliability
  • Understand and demonstrate knowledge of all policies associated with attendance.

  • Attend all assigned in‑service education classes.
