JOB DESCRIPTION

This is an independent contract self-employment position with a flexible work schedule.

The interpreter will be providing CART Captioning services. Job site locations are mainly in San Fransisco and Bay Area. The amount of assignments depends on the volume of requests and the captioner's qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Captioning/Interpreting Accuracy:
Proven ability to deliver real-time captioning or interpreting with accuracy, completeness, and fidelity to the spirit and content of the original communication across medical, legal, educational, and community settings.

Cultural Competence:
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, including non-English speaking persons.

Communication Skills:
Skilled at meeting the communication needs of the general public, medical staff, community members, governmental agencies, and internal committees.

Training & Experience:
Combination of formal training and relevant professional experience in captioning, interpreting, or related communication services.

Compliance Requirements:
Willingness and ability to obtain medical clearances as required (e.g., immunization/vaccination records) and complete background checks.

Licensure:
Possession of a valid California drivers license (or other applicable license).

Technology Access:
Reliable access to a cell phone, computer, and/or smartphone for assignment coordination and captioning work.
