Associate Project Controls Analyst
Location: Oakland, CA
Type: Contract
Responsibilities- Create, monitor, and analyze project schedules in accordance with best practices and specifications.
- Track, analyze, and report information to allow project work streams to manage tasks and understand variances in weekly reports.
- Ensure accuracy of project schedules, metrics, and resource loading status.
- Coordinate project schedules, tasks, meeting updates, and efficient distribution of reports.
- Prepare, implement, and monitor scopes of work using Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for control and integrity.
- Monitor project progress, identify critical activities, and review forecasts and progress to date.
- Maintain a project risk register to manage risks and minimize impact on schedule, scope, and budget.
- Track baselines, perform what‑if analysis, and develop contingency plans.
- Develop conceptual models for Business Capability traceability matrix to explain processes to all levels of users.
- Coordinate across functional departments to identify issues, monitor action items, and work with the project manager to ensure resolution.
- Proficiency in project scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Data analysis: ability to independently analyze, plan, and report data to create detailed project plans.
- Document management: ensure key documents are stored and retrievable in a logical fashion with appropriate security, treating documents with confidentiality.
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks with varying time sensitivities efficiently; nimble, quick learner, and able to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Accuracy: high attention to detail in updating, extracting, and reporting using various systems such as Fieldglass, Excel, Mastery, and training reports.
- Organizational skills: track multiple concurrent tasks with changing priorities and due dates; excellent time‑management skills.
- Teamwork: work effectively within a team and provide leadership when required.
- Communication: effective written and verbal communication; ability to develop visual representations of data and trends; strong communication skills overall.
- Experience in a large corporation, IT project, or program environment with multiple departments and complex request processes.
- Financial acumen and understanding of labor forecasting practices for internal and external resources.
- ERP implementation project experience and knowledge of waterfall and agile methodologies as they apply to diverse roles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); extensive use of Outlook, MS‑Teams, and SharePoint for collaboration and document storage.
- Experience with Power BI and/or Power Apps, MS SharePoint (or similar document management).
- Advanced skills in creating compelling PowerPoint and Word documents.
- Agile project management software such as Atlassian Jira or Microsoft Azure Dev Ops.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Construction, Computer Science, Business Administration, or Management Information Systems.
- Working knowledge of financial and accounting concepts.
7+ years of experience in scheduler or project management roles.
