Job SummaryReporting to the Director of Information Technology the IT Manager of Dental Technology manages and coordinates Information Technology (IT) dental systems, support, and related component activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates and supervises such work as conducted by several IT technical support staff. The IT Manager of Dental Technology guides technical work related to the support, maintenance, and execution of dental technology information systems throughout the organization.
As a partner with the IT Manager and in conjunction with the IT Manager, responsibilities of this role include planning, assigning, and directing work, training employees, maintaining systems, addressing complaints and resolving problems, tracking and documenting issues, and daily regular reporting of all status.

Supervisory Responsibilities- In coordination and conjunction with the IT Manager, assigns work, establishes priorities and project schedules.
- With respect to IT dental systems:
Directs IT dental projects, assigns tasks, and monitors and reports on progress. - May supervise departmental staff as needed.
- Responsible for the management, coordination, support, maintenance, and evaluation of Information Technology dental systems.
- With respect to IT dental technology systems, designs, specifies, configures, installs, and maintains hardware and software such as PCs, dental system software and applications, related printers, servers, dental devices, cabling, etc.
- Implements policies and procedures related to IT dental hardware and software use, maintenance, support, security, backup, and etc.
- Takes after hours on-call IT Helpdesk calls and documents information.
- Creates and maintains weekly/monthly/yearly reports on work performed through the IT Helpdesk Ticket System.
- Establishes and maintains for IT dental systems: users, user environment, directories, security, and etc.
- Trains users in IT dental systems software and equipment usage.
- Responds to the needs and questions of IT dental system users and the operation of various software programs etc.
- Develops and communicates standards for use, operations, and security of IT dental systems, data, and related/integrated devices/components either hardware or software.
- Communicates broadly to report and resolve software, hardware, and technical/technology operations issues.
- Consults with IT Department and Dental Department leadership to develop system solutions consistent with required objectives.
- Installs and tests IT dental systems software and software upgrades.
- Implement IT dental systems backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of operating principles, methods and limitations of personal computer equipment, software, and computer networking.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and techniques of computer operation and maintenance and repair. Ability to run diagnostic software and determine the most cost‑effective alternative solutions.
- Problem solving skills in the various aspects of dental information systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and Server Operating Systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Windows Power Shell preferred.
- Must be able to work flexible hours. Some evenings, nights, and weekends are occasionally required. May include taking after‑hours support calls.
