Project SummaryWe co‑lead the organizational change management for the GIS transformation at the largest investor‑owned utility in the U.S. The project centers on a strategic partnership between the client, the systems integrator and Nimble Consulting. Nimble acts as a client representative due to its 15 years of trust and experience at this utility.
The project will modernize operations by migrating several lines of business from Esri Arc Map to Esri ArcGIS Pro and Esri Utility Network. This effort affects a wide variety of users, including union‑represented employees, managers, analysts, editors, and field staff.

GIS Technical Trainer (Contractor role) – responsible for delivering a range of GIS courses to varied user groups. Courses include instructor‑led, virtual, and hands‑on sessions. The role requires on‑site delivery across Northern California and remote instruction via platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Webex.
Responsibilities- Deliver instructor‑led and virtual courses covering Esri Arc Map, ArcGIS Pro, and Utility Network.
- Teach theory, live demos, and facilitate hands‑on exercises.
- Use train‑the‑trainer methodology to provide engaging, effective, and consistent instruction.
- Travel to client locations in Northern California and stay overnight when required.
- Prepare material, maintain supplies and equipment, and perform administrative tasks.
- Work with the training team and provide feedback on course content.
- Quickly learn the client GIS landscape, workflows, and user groups.
- Understand training audiences by persona and GIS permissions.
- Participate in train‑the‑trainer sessions and team discussions.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, organizational change management, systems thinking, geography, or a related field.
- Experience with large‑scale ERP/technology rollouts; preference for utility sector experience.
- Hands‑on experience with Esri Arc Map, ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Online.
- At least 10 years of experience delivering technical training as an independent consultant.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver training effectively, including familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Office, and mobile devices such as iPhone, iPad, and ruggedized laptops.
- High training feedback scores and adoption metrics.
- Ability to support participants during sessions with process/workflow and device‑related questions.
- Comfortable leading projects autonomously with minimal guidance.
- Consistent teaching style with other trainers and quick response to feedback.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Technical proficiency with screen capture, recording tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Utility sector experience (gas, electric, etc.).
- Experience with Esri Utility Network, ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Online.
- Owner of a business license (S‑Corp, C‑Corp, LLP, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of ADDIE training methodology.
- Experience serving a range of commercial clients.
