WeVote is a movement of over 100 volunteers starting with the founders, building open-source mobile technologies that touch and mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. Job Definition

The Co-Chief Talent Officer focuses on the full employee lifecycle, including sourcing, recruitment, onboarding, professional development, engagement, and retention. They work closely with the executive director and other leadership, contribute to policy changes to align talent development initiatives with business goals, and offer strategic advice considering open roles, skills gaps, employee engagement, and the company’s stage of development.

Role and responsibilities
  • Volunteer Team Management:
    Hire/manage/encourage a team of early career stage recruiters
  • Coach current team of recruiters in talent acquisition best practices
  • Workforce planning with other team leads and hiring managers (engineering, analytics, business development, marketing, etc.)
  • Strategic/Leadership:
    Create recruitment strategies and processes to support the organization
  • Write and execute HR policies affecting recruitment, training, and career development
  • Develop executive talent management and retention strategies
  • Provide best practices to improve the whole talent acquisition cycle
  • Assess leadership gaps and promote diversity in senior teams
  • Develop and execute multi-year talent strategy aligned with growth goals, including workforce planning and competitive intelligence
  • Define talent acquisition roadmap for scaling from 200+ contributors
  • Partnerships and External Relations:
    Build and manage strategic partnerships with universities, coding bootcamps, civic tech organizations, and diversity-focused recruiting networks
  • Manage vendor relationships (ATS, recruiting tools, background checks) and represent WeVote at industry events and career fairs
  • Expand university partnerships, especially for internships
  • Recruitment:
    Evaluate hiring needs to build long-term recruitment plans
  • Supervise the creation, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of recruitment and talent acquisition for top/high-potential roles
  • Recruitment marketing
  • Optimize  implementation and build a scalable TA stack to support growth
  • Develop metrics dashboard to track recruitment deliverables
  • Standardize processes for team efficiency
  • Co-Chief Talent Officer works with other senior leaders
  • Lead talent acquisition for an organization of 200+ contributors
  • Manage 7+ person recruiting team (remote, US based)
  • Reports to Executive Director
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing (employer brand), Finance (compensation), IT (systems), and department heads (organizational design)
  • Required knowledge and skills: 5-7 years of talent acquisition experience with 3+ years of managing a TA team; proven track record of building/scaling TA teams
  • Experience with distributed/remote teams; high growth environments and nonprofit/mission-driven organizations strongly preferred
  • Full cycle recruitment processes – sourcing, screening, selecting, hiring, onboarding
  • ATS experience
