  • Pay Range:
    This position may be filled at one of two levels:
    Mental Health Therapist I is between $70,304- $89,434.15 per year; and Mental Health Therapist II is between: $77,112 - $98,416.62 per year. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Programs

The Oakland Specialized Residential Programs provides intensive residential services for youth with mental health, developmental, and behavioral needs. Our Avalon program offers a highly structured residential environment with intensive staffing and comprehensive therapeutic services, including individual, group, family, and milieu therapy, ongoing assessment, crisis intervention, medication support, and skill-building to help youth transition to less restrictive settings. Our New Yosemite Program is a crisis stabilization and assessment program for youth with developmental disabilities and/or autism.

Operated in partnership with Fred Finch Youth & Family Services and Regional Center of the East Bay (RCEB), New Yosemite youth ages 8 through 18, who are experiencing crisis and are approved for placement  Yosemite serves youth under age 12 only by mutual agreement between FFYC and RCEB. The program population derives from two sources: participants who are struggling to be maintained in and out of home care and participants whose family systems are stressed beyond their capacity to maintain the child in their home.

What

You Will Do

Under administrative and clinical supervision (Mental Health Therapist I) or consultation and direction (Mental Health Therapist II), you will provide behavioral health clinical intervention and recovery services to assigned participants and their families; develop treatment plans and perform individual, group, and family therapy, routine and emergency assessment, crisis intervention, and related treatment services; manage an assigned caseload of children, youth and/or young adult participants;

provide consultation to other staff, programs, and agencies related to treatment needs and plans; and perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Mental Health Therapist I-II:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related field; and

  • Mental Health Therapist I:
    One (1) year of internship experience providing mental health services in a behavioral health, clinic, residential, school-based, or community-based setting for children, youth, or young adults.
  • Mental Health Therapist II:
    Two (2) years of post-master’s experience providing professional mental health services in a behavioral health, clinic, residential, school-based, or community-based setting for children, youth, or young adults.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.
