Responsibilities
Prepares and sterilizes supplies and equipment used in the unit; drapes and covers operating and instrument tables; lays out supplies and equipment for scheduled or emergency cases; ensures adequate supply levels; discards outdated drugs; orders and checks supplies from Pharmacy and Central Supplies; stores and cleans cabinets.Assists surgeons with instruments and with gowning and gloving; retrieves requested supplies or equipment for surgeons, registered nurses, or anesthesiologists; assists RNs with sponge and needle counts and other technical aspects; manages contaminated instruments for decontamination and sterile processing; prepares irrigation fluids; assists surgeons, RNs, and anesthesiologists in assigned duties.Acts as a scrub technician for surgical procedures; checks aseptic technique of surgical personnel; assists in in-service training for scrub and sterile techniques; aids in demonstrating new equipment; conducts routine equipment maintenance and coordinates preventative maintenance and repairs for department equipment.On occasion may perform housekeeping duties in surgical areas when housekeeping personnel are unavailable; may take messages for medical staff as needed.Minimum Qualifications
Either I) satisfactory completion of a course of instruction and clinical practice in Surgical Technology, OR II) completion of a training course in operating room technology from the military, OR III) the equivalent of one year of full-time experience performing the duties of a Surgical Technician.
Pay and Benefits
Pay range: $48.58 - $62.75 per hour. The pay range reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, education, skills, licenses and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and organizational needs.
